Aluminium Foundry

Aluminium castings for technically demanding applications.

Alunext brings aluminium casting into Streparava’s production chain.

The company was established as a joint venture between Streparava and Costamp.
One brings expertise in powertrain and chassis components and systems, the other in dies for precision components.
Complementary expertise comes together within a single production process, which also encompasses the transformation of raw materials. A continuous process that supports customers from component development and die design through to aluminium casting and industrialisation. With no interruptions between stages.

Aluminium alloy castings are produced using high-pressure (HPDC), low-pressure (LPDC) and gravity die casting (GDC) technologies for sectors that demand high levels of reliability and process control: automotive, energy, medical and defence.

Co-design and design to cost.

Alunext can become involved in the earliest stages of aluminium component development, when geometries, wall thicknesses and configurations must be considered in relation to the constraints of casting and manufacturing technologies.

It works with customers on co-design, design optimisation and design to cost before the design becomes fixed, seeking the best balance between costs, materials and manufacturing operations throughout the production chain.

From samples to medium-sized batches.

Production can accommodate a range of volumes, from individual components and initial samples to small and medium production runs. Alunext becomes even more competitive when casting calls for complex geometries or large dimensions that are difficult to control and require more specialised expertise.

Managing specialist alloys.

Alunext processes a range of aluminium alloys, including grades that are particularly difficult to handle and require the process to be kept in careful balance at all times.

Among these is MagSimal, an alloy that needs no heat treatment, offers excellent mechanical properties and can be riveted and welded. Its demanding processing requirements mean that relatively few companies can use it consistently and reliably in industrial production.

Beyond the foundry.

After casting, the aluminium component is integrated with other chassis, powertrain and mechatronic components as part of more complex systems and bills of materials.

The foundry also serves the wider market: it supports both Group operations and external customers. When an aluminium component requires several coordinated manufacturing stages, Alunext can manage the process from start to finish, retaining control over the final result.
